Our fire pits and water gardens are genuine old Indian kadai which were originally used for cooking large quantities of food at festivals, weddings and temples. A fire was lit underneath and sweet treats fried in ghee inside. They can also be seen on the roadside where vendors cook and sell their street food. We repurpose them to use as a very special and unique outdoor fireplace or water garden. Smaller sizes can be used as unusual planters, indoors or outside. Kadai are handmade by nomadic Indian traders and have characteristics as unique as the person who crafted them. No two are the same.
We purchase kadai ethically from Rajasthan India, supply is limited. The individual age is unknown, they can be up to 100 years old. They all bear the patina of previous use and many are crusty with burnt sugar. We choose only the heaviest kadhai with solid bases. All prices include a stand and grate.
